What you'll need:
• a fabric store
• a couple of dollars
Step 1) Go to your local fabric store and peruse the bargain bin or regular priced fabrics for a color you love, love, love. Make sure it's a fabric that won't fray when cut (jersey, flannel, fleece, etc.). Check the cut edge and see if it frays too much. Also make sure it is on a wide roll. These widths vary, but just make sure the roll is close to as wide, or a little wider than, your arm span.
Step 2) Bring the roll up to the cutting counter and have them cut you half a meter (about 20 inches). A little more or less is fine, this will vary the width of your scarf. You should be left with a long rectangle. Ask nicely if the kind cutting person could cut off the end for you if they are raw.
BOOM! You have your scarf. Pay. Walk out. Wrap that sucker around your neck.
Here are a couple I made today. Each one cost me less than $5...and I used a gift card I got from my great friend Adriana, so they were free to me. Told you I was frugal.

what kind of fabric did you get? they don't look flannel or fleece
ReplyDeleteBoth are cotton jersey, just in different weights.
ReplyDeletethey look great, thanks for the clarification
ReplyDeleteYou're so much smarter than I am! It wasn't until I paid way too much for a jersey rolled-hem scarf that I figured out I could really truly make it myself. So I've bought some jersey but I haven't cut it yet. :)
